Father: Charles di Britannia | pureblood
Mother: Éloise li Britannia | pureblood; deceased
Sister: Cornelia li Britannia | pureblood
Year: 6th
As one of the two legitimate children of Charles di Britannia, Euphemia was highly sought after as a marriage chip. While he did not differentiate between his legitimate and illegitimate children, it was perceived by others that a marriage to either Cornelia or Euphemia would yield the most reward. Cornelia immediately joined the Aurors upon graduation from Salem Academy and declared it her intent to not marry. Which left Euphemia.
Despite loving her sister more than anything, Euphie felt a little choked in her shadow. Head Girl, Quidditch Captain and Prefect at school before turning down many lucrative and prestigious positions to become an Auror. Within a year of passing basic training, she was already heading up her own unit and that unit had a 100% success rate. Cornelia li Britannia was an amazing woman and focused.
Euphie shocked everyone by seeking an audience with her father to ask if she could instead be sent to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Her argument was that if she were to prove herself a true Britannia child, she would need to do so without everyone seeing Cornelia first. She got her way but only because Charles had it in mind to wed Euphemia to one of the noble houses in Wizarding England and firm up some ties back in the homeland. (He had originally planned to wed her to either Schneizel or Lelouch - partly to deliberately snub those seeking favour through marrying one of his girls - but Lelouch had been disinherited. He still harbours a small intent to wed her to Schneizel if no interested English boys seemed prestigious enough for his tastes.)
She had her wand made for her by the best-thought-of American wand maker after she was invited to stay with the 'princess' of Britannia for a month. She spoke with Euphie and studied her spirit, her mind and her mannerisms, eventually coming up with three wands for her.
First wand: birch, unicorn hair, 7½ inches, swishy
Second wand: willow, fairy wings, 7 inches, whippy
Three wand: cherry, unicorn & demiguise hair, 7inches, springy
All of them yielded results but she felt most power from the second tried. She was gifted all three regardless and she keeps the other two locked away in her trunk just in case she ever requires a back-up.
Cornelia took personal charge of delivering Euphie to Kings Cross Station but the pink-haired girl demanded that she not bring her knights through the barrier. Her name would already mark her out and she did not want all the extra pomp and ceremony in case it alienated her from everyone else from day one.
Once on the train, waving Cornelia goodbye, Euphie found herself an empty compartment. Just as she was about to step inside, she dropped her trunk and tripped over it. She would have faceplanted had a nice young brunet boy not caught her. He introduced himself as Suzaku and helped her back onto her feet. Within moments, she was installed in the compartment and her trunk was safely stowed away above her. The boy soon whisked off to go find other people to see and she sat, contentedly, playing with her wand and making little sparks appear. After an hour or so, some other girls bundled into her compartment. She got to know them well and took to Shirley Fenette quickly.
By the time they arrived at Hogwarts, she had found firm friends. Nina Einstein ended up a Ravenclaw, Milly Ashford a Gryffindor and Shirley was in Hufflepuff. She was pleased to see Suzaku bound over to Gryffindor with a big smile on his face and she gave him a little wave. Right before her own name was called, though, 'Lelouch Lamperouge' was called.
She froze, whipped her head around and her heart leaped into her throat. There was no way he could be anyone else and she knew Marianne The Flash's maiden name had been Lamperouge. She watched as Lelouch was sorted into Slytherin, a young, wheelchair-bound girl set beside him by a member of staff. He was instantly giving defiant looks to the other Slytherins who watched the girl.
Her name was called and the attention all whipped to her instead. The name 'li Britannia' was rarely heard in these walls and she wished she had had the foresight to come up with a pseudonym like Lelouch had. His eyes bored into the back of her head and from the other side, she could almost feel Suzaku's accusing glare.
She was spared staring at people when the hat fell right down over her eyes and it yelled "Hufflepuff" almost instantly. She trotted to Shirley's side and hoped the girl would help shield her - even if she too was staring. It had been first names only on the train.
In her first few days, she had to put up with a lot of whispering and staring, but eventually the novelty wore off and she started properly. She also sought secretive contact with Lelouch and Nunnally, repairing their broken links away from prying eyes.
Her grades in her first year were pretty consistent. She was not a Ravenclaw for a reason but her grades were certainly not going to be an embarrassment to the family name. When she returned home for the breaks, Cornelia always ensured she would be around for at least part of it and she, Guilford and Darlton teach/train her to play Quidditch a bit better. Euphie dislikes the Bludgers in game, but she cannot deny that the game itself is fun and she enjoys it.
When she returns, she rides a Firebolt and gets herself onto the Hufflepuff team as Chaser. This in turn opens up new friendships as people had been surprised that she would actually be good at this; thinking her "lesser" than her famous sister.
Over the years, she finds that choosing Hogwarts was the best choice she could have made as she makes many friends and people often forget she is even a li Britannia at all. All, except the Slytherins, who started off tormenting her or trying to win her favour until Lelouch makes a name for himself and becomes their 'prince'. He knows full well what their father would be planning and so he "claims" Euphie as his as far as they are concerned. It gets harder as his sister grows in beauty and figure to keep their eyes away from her, though. Doesn't stop him from trying.
